"The destroyer of time, God's most beloved sinner"
Allen Walker
- access: Eroica
- adopted in Sept. 2006
- anime/manga character
- shrine included, in good shape
Allen is the protagonist of D.Gray-man, a Japanese manga series created by Katsura Hoshino. He was practically my favorite character in the series since day one - what a gentleman, what a loyal friend and ally! There's nothing about Allen that reminds you of a fierce warrior, even if he's capable of destroying his enemies without a blink. Furthermore, who else would "love" his allies and enemies all at once, even if just in fiction? Reading Allen's life story is like solving a complex puzzle: there are more than enough facts and emotions surrounding his character that need to be discovered yet.
Critic's choice
Kaoru Wada, head producer of D.Gray-man music, should not be a stranger to most anime enthusiasts. To name a few of his major titles: Inu Yasha, Record of Lodoss War, Dragon Quest and more recently, Kingdom Hearts. His compositions for D.Gray-man were spectacular: I was surprised to find myself loving even the spookiest sound from each of his melodies.
Apart from anime opening/ending theme songs, I've also included Nephilim by abingdon boys school as a fan track - Takanori Nishikawa's voice and music blend into Allen's heroic traits almost too well! The lyrics match "Eroica" nicely, too.
