Despite being Baccano!'s only "author-approved" protagonist, Firo is someone you'd hardly take a strong notice of at first glance. Maybe the showy nature of Firo's acquaintances tend to overshadow Firo's own shine, though that's exactly why his fans are so fond of him. He's not exactly a fun-loving guy - sadly or not, down-to-earth is his most outstanding character - but his sincere words will win your heart more than exciting actions as time goes by. In a sense Firo's character is very similar to that of Parn: plain but trustworthy, clumsy but always true.
