Kei is the male protagonist of Special A, one of my favorite shoujo works at the moment. The series itself is still minor, but I hope things would change a bit when its anime starts airing in Spring 2008.

If Claire is a living charisma in the open, Kei would be a living charisma behind the curtains. People cannot read Kei's thoughts most of the time, and as a result much of his effort to help others tend to go unnoticed. Not that Kei minds or cares - as long as people he loves are happy, all's well in the world. He's also quite an arrogant one when situation calls for it, but he's got the right to talk big: "perfect" has always been his middle name inside out.

All that being said, it seems to me that characters like Kei are no longer appreciated with much quality or quantity among current fandoms. Since when did "perfection" become a fault? If a person is more capable than yourself, there'd always be space for at least some sort of respect; is it too much for me to hope that fellow fans would try to think the same?
