This is a merged fanlisting and mini-tribute to two of my favorite songstresses, one in and one out of fiction. To avoid confusion, I will dedicate two separate paragraphs to each of them below:
Born and raised in America between a Japanese father and a Korean mother, Yuna is a musician I've followed since the very start (aka. pre-debut). It was probably love at first sight: I enjoy her stage personality enough to apply for her fanlisting, which really says something. Music or looks alone is not enough for me to like a celebrity figure, anyway.
Reira (Layla) is the fictional character that contributed to a major portion of Yuna's success in her early years. A key character in Ai Yazawa's famous Nana, Reira is someone I thought rather plain - despite her gorgeous looks and position in the story - at first but learned to appreciate overtime. She might be a target of envy to all girls her generation, but her loneliness and dedication to love is what really won me over in the end.
Yuna and Reira are alike in the sense that they're both beautiful, talented and blessed with a career they love. However, Reira is a much more fragile and unstable personality than Yuna, who is never afraid to speak her mind in the open. This is where my preference differs: I worship Yuna for her confidence and Reira for her kind, pure heart.
